LWBA CONSTITUTION

LONDON WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION CONSTITUTION

The official name will be the LONDON WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION, abbreviated as LWBA, and hereinafter called the ASSOCIATION.

The ASSOCIATION was formed October 28, 1984, to organize, develop, and enhance wheelchair basketball for the physically disabled in London.

The ASSOCIATION is completely non-profit and is carried on without gain for its members. Any profits or accretions to the ASSOCIATION are used to promote its objectives.

The ASSOCIATION recognizes and effects an executive committee. A president, secretary, and treasurer are elected each year to serve a one year term or period.

The ASSOCIATION recognizes and emphasizes the right of physically disabled individuals to participate within the sport of wheelchair basketball. This ASSOCIATION views the involvement in sport as providing a motivating force in the enjoyment of life and greater participation within the community. The aim of this ASSOCIATION is to provide to the physically disabled, the opportunity to participate in wheelchair basketball within a competitive or recreational level.

In addition to the sport sponsored by this ASSOCIATION, efforts are made to respond to requests for assistance from other physically disabled groups.

LONDON WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

THE following are the goals and objectives of the LONDON WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION:

  1. To organize, develop, and enhance wheelchair basketball within the city of London.
  2. To promote general public awareness of the abilities of disabled athletes.
  3. To finance the operation of the Forest City Flyers, the Forest City Flames and other related activities deemed appropriate by the association.
  4. To develop and expand a wheelchair basketball house league within the city of London.
  5. To introduce recently physically disabled individuals to the sport of wheelchair basketball as well as other sports and organizations.
  6. To allow physically disabled individuals to realize their abilities and limitations through the involvement in sport.
  7. To provide fellowship and an atmosphere of competitive kinship within the association.
